Ch-ch-ch-changes are coming to TV CONFIDENTIAL

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

In case you missed it when we made the announcement on our June 16 program, TV CONFIDENTIAL has recently been picked up by Shokus Internet Radio, which means that we are now in effect a syndicated show. As part of our arrangement, our show will be broadcast from the studios of Shokus Internet Radio every other Monday beginning in July. Shokus Internet Radio is located in Southern California, which will put us in closer proximity to many of the stars that you’ve grown accustomed to hearing and enjoying on TV CONFIDENTIAL. Frankie and I are very excited about this opportunity, and we hope that you will be, too.

Our next program, Tuesday, June 30 will air live at the usual time (10pm-Mid ET, 7-9pm PT) on KSAV.org. However, beginning Monday, July 13, our live two-hour broadcast will now be every other Monday at 10pm ET, 7pm PT on Shokus Internet Radio. The program will then be repeated Tuesday thru Sunday at the same time (10pm ET, 7pm PT) on Shokus Radio for the next two weeks, and then will be posted online at our archives page at TVConfidential.net. This means you will have even more opportunities to listen to our show.

Now, what if you’re a regular Tuesday night listener on KSAV.org? Will you still be able to tune in to TV CONFIDENTIAL every other Tuesday? Yes, you will be. The only difference is… instead of it being a live program, the broadcast of TV CONFIDENTIAL that you’ll hear on KSAV.org beginning in July will now be an “encore presentation” of the previous night’s broadcast.

So if you just want to listen in and enjoy the program on KSAV, you do not have to do anything different. TV CONFIDENTIAL will still be on KSAV every other Tuesday. But if you want to call in, or be part of the live broadcast, you will have to tune in to Shokus Internet Radio every other Monday.

We will talk about this again on our next program, Tuesday, June 30, as well as post reminders on our website, our blog and our regular email announcement.

In the meantime, on behalf of Frankie, David Krell and Tony Figueroa, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dan White and Jim Groenke for all their help and support over the past year. We really appreciate your hard work behind the scenes, and look forward to continuing our friendship in the years ahead.

“Family Affair” and More: This Week on TV CONFIDENTIAL

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Actress, author, voice-over artist and TV host Kathy Garver will be our special guest this week on TV CONFIDENTIAL, Tuesday, June 30, beginning at 10pm ET, 7pm PT on Share-a-Vision Radio, KSAV.org.

Best known for playing “Cissy Davis” on the long-running comedy series Family Affair (CBS, 1966-1971), Kathy Garver has just released a fun new book, The Family Affair Cookbook, featuring tons of anecdotes, not to mention many recipes from the Family Affair series that the whole family can make and enjoy. If you grew up watching Family Affair, if you have a favorite episode or memory from the show, feel free to take part in our discussion when Kathy joins us in our first hour. In the meantime, if you missed the wrap-around segments that Kathy and I did for KOFY TV20 as part of their recent Family Affair celebration, you can find those on our YouTube page.

Then in our second hour, Tony Figueroa and David Krell will join Frankie and me as we remember the passings of Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. Each in their own way left their mark in television and remained part of our lives for more four decades (in McMahon’s case, more than five decades). If you have any thoughts about their careers, we invite you to join in as well.

Our broadcast begins this Tuesday, June 30 at 10pm ET, 7pm PT on Share-a-Vision Radio, KSAV.org. Phone number, as always, is (800) 407-KSAV (5728). You can also email a question or comment in advance by sending it to talk@tvconfidential.net.

Farrah Fawcett Dies of Cancer at 62

Friday, June 26th, 2009

I have just been informed that, as part of the obituary she wrote on Farrah Fawcett for The New York Times, writer Susan Stewart cited a piece I’d written for Media Life Magazine about Farrah’s film and television career. Thank you to Andrew Lee Fielding for bringing this to our attention:

Monday, June 1st, 2009

The spotlight will be on Guy Williams this week on TV CONFIDENTIAL, Tuesday, June 2, beginning at 10pm ET, 7pm PT on Share-a-Vision Radio, KSAV.org.

Whether you think of him as the dashing masked horseman Zorro on the classic Disney series of the same name, or the father of the Space Family Robinson on Lost in Space, Guy Williams is a TV icon among many Baby Boomers. Joining us this week to discuss his life and career will be Antoinette Lane, author of Guy Williams: The Man Behind the Mask, the definitive biography on Guy Williams, and Kathy Gregory, a fellow Williams aficionado.
