William Link and Denny Miller: Next on TV CONFIDENTIAL

Friday, August 20th, 2010

Writer/producer William Link and actor Denny Miller will be our special guests on the next edition of TV CONFIDENTIAL, Friday at 7pm ET and PT on Share-a-Vision Radio, KSAV.org.

Once described by the New York Times as the “Mr. Rolls and Mr. Royce” of American television, William Link, along with his longtime collaborator, the late Richard Levinson, created, produced, wrote and adapted 16 television series, including Columbo, Mannix, Ellery Queen, Murder, She Wrote, Tenafly and The Cosby Mysteries, as well as such acclaimed made-for-TV movies as My Sweet Charlie, That Certain Summer and The Execution of Private Slovik. Bill’s latest book, The Columbo Collection, features 12 original short stories featuring the famous rumpled detective. He also has several appearances coming up, including the West Hollywood Book Fair in Los Angeles on Sept. 26, Bouchercon by the Bay in San Francisco on Oct. 14-17, and the Ninth Annual Men of Mystery Luncheon in Irvine, Calif. on Oct. 30. William Link will be joining us in our second hour.

Also joining us will be character actor Denny Miller, who has appeared in just about every major television show of the last four decades, including Gunsmoke, Gilligan’s Island, The Fugitive, The Rockford Files and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. A fixture in film and television Westerns, Denny also starred as Duke Shannon in Wagon Train, as well as appeared in such acclaimed films as Buck and the Preacher, starring and directed by Sidney Poitier, and The Party with Peter Sellers. The author of several books, including Didn’t You Used to Be What’s His Name?, a whimsical look at his show business career, Denny will be appearing at the Western Legends Festival in Kanab, Utah on Aug. 26-28. We’ll talk about that and more when he joins us in our first hour.

Emmy Winner BOB WYNN: Next on TV CONFIDENTIAL

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

Emmy Award-winning producer and director Bob Wynn will be our special guest on the next edition of TV CONFIDENTIAL, Friday at 7pm ET and PT on Share-a-Vision Radio, KSAV.org.

Bob Wynn’s career spanned four decades, during which time which he produced and directed more than 200 television shows, including the highly acclaimed The Judy Garland Show; Bob Hope on The Road to China, the first American television program filmed in China; The Tennessee Ernie Ford Nashville to Moscow Express, the first American television show filmed in the Soviet Union; a host of specials featuring the likes of Bing Crosby, Danny Thomas, Don Rickles and Sammy Davis, Jr.; and the long running NBC series Real People.

A high school dropout “before it became fashionable,” Bob Wynn overcame modest beginnings to become one of the most successful producers in television. He tells his story with humor and wit in I Used to Be Somebody, an engaging memoir that The Los Angeles Times likens to having a dinner conversation with someone “who tells the most wonderful stories. By the end of the evening, you feel, inexplicably, like dancing.” Bob Wynn will be joining us in our second hour.
