We will remember the late Walter Grauman on the next edition of TV CONFIDENTIAL, Friday at 7pm ET and PT on Share-a-Vision Radio, KSAV.org.
This week’s program will remember Walter Grauman, the prolific film and television director who passed away on Friday, March 20. If you’re a fan of Quinn Martin, you know that Walter directed multiple episodes of almost every show that came out of QM Productions, including the pilot episodes of The Fugitive, Barnaby Jones and The Streets of San Francisco. But he also had a long and distinguished record independent of Quinn Martin, both as a producer (including the ABC dramas Felony Squad and Blue Light), as well as directing such notable miniseries and made for TV movies as To Race the Wind, Bare Essence, Crowhaven Farm, and Top of the Hill, plus multiple episodes of such popular shows as The Untouchables, Burke’s Law, Naked City, Route 66, Peter Gunn, Trapper John, M.D. and Murder, She Wrote.
You might recall that Walter Grauman appeared on TV CONFIDENTIAL back in March 2012, on the occasion of Walter’s 90th birthday. Paul Robert Coyle co-hosted. We covered many topics in the course of that 75-minute conversation, including how Walter more or less taught himself the craft of directing at a time when the television industry was just starting. We will replay that interview in its entirety during this week’s program.
