Aaron Copland was one of the most respected American Classical composers of the twentieth century. By incorporating jazz and folk into his compositions, he created both exceptional and innovative pieces. Today, almost twenty years after his death, Copland’s life and work continue to inspire musicians worldwide.

Tuesday, October 13th, I invite you to listen to some of the most electrifying music by one of the finest American composers, Aaron Copland on my show “Getting To Know You.” Two of the compositions are very well known and popular ballets; Agnes DeMille’s Rodeo and Martha Graham’s Appalacian Spring, for which he won the Pulitzer Prize. You will also hear a piece that had its roots in Mexican folk music “El Salón México”
