The Marvelous Land of Oz on Storyspieler

The Marvelous Land of Oz by L. Frank Baum is the second of the Oz stories. I did the narration some years ago with the goal of reaching a new generation of children. But it was the adults I heard from who’d been fond of the stories long ago. There are 24 chapters to the story and I’ve made 5 parts out of them. The first part airs Monday, July 12th at 7 PM. There will also be an earlier feed of Storyspieler so that it can be heard a 9AM in Western Europe. That’s something I wanted to try. I’ve been doing narrations for 5 years and in a typical week my podcast is listened to in over 40 countries.

When the Wizard of Oz took off in his balloon he left the Scarecrow in charge of the Emerald City. In this story he is deposed by the young ladies of Oz under General JinJur and flees to the Tin Woodman. Tip, the ward of old Mombi the witch, learns how to use the magic powder of life and brings to life a sawhorse. Mombi has already used it to bring Tip’s pumpkinheaded man to life and is tired of Tip’s tricks and decides he’d look nice as a statue. Tip, Jack Pumpkinhead, and the Sawhorse sneak away during the night and arrive in the Emerald City just in time to help the Scarecrow with his escape.  At the end of the last part of our story we learn who Tip really is and it’s a major surprise.

I hope you’ll enjoy The Marvelous Land of Oz. - Roy Trumbull
