Tributes to James Arness and Benny Carter: Next on TV CONFIDENTIAL

Singer, producer and television writer Deborah Pearl and author Douglas Brode will join us on the next edition of TV CONFIDENTIAL, Friday at 7pm ET and PT on Share-a-Vision Radio,

An accomplished singer, lyricist, playwright, producer, director and screenwriter, Deborah Pearl’s credits in film and television include such popular series as Head of the Class, 227 and Designing Women, the short film Waiting for Yvette with Wendie Malick, and her own critically acclaimed one-woman show, Chick Singers. Deborah’s new CD, Souvenir of You: New Lyrics to Benny Carter Classics, pays tribute to the music of jazz legend Benny Carter, featuring original lyrics written by Deborah herself. Known affectionately as “The King” long before Elvis Presley, Benny Carter’s career as a composer, arranger, saxophonist and bandleader spanned an astonishing eight decades. We’ll talk about that, and more, when Deborah Pearl joins us in our second hour.

Also joining us this week will be author Douglas Brode, whose books on film, television and American pop culture include Shooting Stars of the Small Screen and The 100 Greatest Westerns of All Time. In the world of television, Gunsmoke ranks among the greatest Westerns of all time, and its star, James Arness, among TV’s biggest stars. We’ll pay tribute to Arness and the legacy of Gunsmoke when Doug joins us in our first hour.

Plus: Tony Figueroa will join us as we discuss the reaction to Tracy Morgan’s rant among members of the entertainment industry and the GLBT community.
