David Frankham, plus the News and Documentary Emmy Awards: Next on TVC

Actor and voice artist David Frankham and NATAS president Adam Sharp will join us this weekend on TV CONFIDENTIAL, airing Friday 7pm ET and PT on Share-a-Vision Radio, KSAV.org.

Actor, author, and voice artist David Frankham (101 Dalmations, Master of the World, Return of the Fly, Tales of Terror, Which One Was David?) returns this week for Part 2 of a conversation that began earlier this year about his career in film, television, and radio. Among other topics, David will share some memories of working with comic legends Jack Benny and Ernie Kovacs, plus we’ll ask him about playing characters who have nervous breakdowns onscreen (which he did famously in King Rat, as well as in the “Is There No Truth in Beauty” episode of the original Star Trek). David Frankham will join us in our second hour. Actor Jonathan David Dixon will co-host.

David Frankham provides the voice of The Storyteller in the stop-motion puppet animation version of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The House of the Seven Gables that was written, produced and directed by Ben Wickey. The House of the Seven Gables is available now on DVD through ArkhamBazaar.com as part of the HP Lovecraft Film Festival Best of 2018 collection. David Frankham is also scheduled to appear at the Trekonderoga Weekend in Ticonderoga, New York on August 23-24-25. In addition, he is profiled in the May-August 2019 issue of Filmfax, which you can find wherever magazines are sold.

This week’s show will also include a return appearance by Adam Sharp, president of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, aka NATAS, aka the Daytime Emmy Awards. One of the ceremonies under the wings of NATAS is the News and Documentary Emmy Awards, which will be presented Tuesday, Sept. 24 in New York City. We’ll talk to Adam about the state of TV news in general, plus we’ll ask a few questions about his career before the Emmys, which included six years as Head of News, Government and Elections at Twitter. Adam Sharp will join us in our first hour.

The 40th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards will be broadcast Tuesday, Sept. 24 at EmmyOnline.TV and other streaming platforms. The 40th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards honors programming distributed during calendar year 2018. This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to longtime NBC News foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell in recognition of her fifty-year career covering domestic and international affairs.
