Welcome to KSAV.org

KSAV.org is radio from the past heard today on the Internet. KSAV was started in 2005 by Dan White, a former radio news director and personality in the 1960’s. KSAV broadcasts world-wide via the Internet using resources provided by Dan’s long-time friend and associate Daryl Jones. Begun as a “hobby” (or play-toy as some called it), KSAV had no listeners and broadcast one hour weekly.

The initial theme was music of the past; 40’s 50’s 60’s. Big bands, vocalists, groups that made that music great. This theme continues today with the addition of several talk-radio shows emphasizing the same genre. And the great music is now heard 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

The broadcast day expanded from 1 hour, 1 day per week to several hours weekly, but still only 1 day (evening actually). As Daryl continued to refine the technology, Dan’s brother Dave White joined in the fun, initially researching and recording the music. Much of the music came from a family collection of 78 and 45 RPM phonograph records coverted to .mp3 files. Today the music library boasts over 5000 songs with more being added often.

Long a contributor to the local newspaper where he lives in Butte County, California, Dave decided (with a little push) to bring his political savvy and wry wit to the airwaves in a 60-minute talk show What’s On Your Mind. There was not sufficient interest in the locally-based topics Dave covered for the program to continue so the program was abandoned and out of the ashes came the popular talk-show Dave hosts today; Talking Television With Dave White which looks back at early television programs with guests who either worked on those shows or are long-time fans. Expanded to ninety-minutes, this program airs on Tuesdays at 7:30 PM (PT) with a re-broadcast on Thursdays at 7:30 PM ET plus all shows are archived on the website.

In the course of producing the Talking Television program, Dave became acquainted with television producer Kent McCray who was the producer of (among many others) High Chapparal. Through meeting Kent and having him on the program, Dave met Kent’s wife, casting director Susan McCray. One thing leading to another, Susan became a guest on Dan’s program Perfectly Frank featuring the music of legend Frank Sinatra. Susan’s father, legendary composer/arranger Harry Sukman had a close friendship with Mr. Sinatra and Susan had many great stories to tell about those great years.

Susan enjoyed re-living those great days of music and entertainment and this spawned yet another KSAV talk show, Getting to Know You airing each Tuesday at 6:30 PM (PT) and again Thursdays at 6:30 PM (ET). These terrific shows are also archived.
